Clare was headteacher of St Matthias Primary in Tower Hamlets for 22 years before taking up the post of Head of Education Improvement for the States of Guernsey. She was named TES Person of the Year in 2018 and received an OBE for her work on cognitive science and phonics in primary education and her dedication to spreading their learning through blogs and articles that are widely read by teachers and education specialists.
