Expanding brackets at a glance

The expanding brackets topic begins with expanding single brackets. The topic then moves onto expanding double brackets to produce quadratic expressions which require simplifying. This requires multiplying the first bracket by the second bracket.

Also covered is expanding triple brackets which requires the first bracket to be multiplied by the product of the other two brackets. Knowledge of indices, order of operations and negative numbers is practiced throughout the topic.

Looking forward, students can then progress to additional algebra worksheets, for example a factorising worksheet, inequalities worksheet or straight line graphs worksheet.
