Complementary and supplementary angles at a glance

Complementary angles are pairs of angles which sum to 90° (a right angle). Supplementary angles are pairs of angles which sum to 180° (a straight angle). Examples of this include the angles on a straight line and co-interior angles.

Complementary and supplementary angle facts can be used to find missing angles. For example if we have a linear pair of angles, two angles on a straight line, we can find the size of one angle given the size of the other. To do this we subtract the given angle from 180Β°.Β

Angle problems often involve knowledge of various types of angles as well as various angle relationships to find an unknown angle.

Looking forward, students can then progress to additionalΒ angles rules worksheetsΒ and otherΒ geometry worksheets, for example anΒ angles in polygons worksheetΒ orΒ volume and surface area of spheres worksheet.
