Are you concerned that some of your GCSE maths students won’t achieve the target grades they should?
Some KS4 students may need some extra help and focused support to build confidence to face the greater rigour of GCSE maths.
However, for even the most experienced teachers, in a class of 30 it can be difficult to give each student the personalised attention they need. For the less experienced or non specialists, the challenge is even greater than for qualified maths teachers.
If you know that you or other teachers and staff in school will struggle to provide this sort of one to one support in school, an online specialist GCSE maths tutor is your affordable alternative.
“We analysed the data for our GCSE pupils and found that students who had attended Third Space Learning sessions improved 1.19 of a grade on average – 0.45 more than those who didn’t have Third Space Learning sessions.”
Andy Appleford
Maths Director, Chorus Education Trust
“The diagnostic assessment is excellent as it’s enabled the tutors to focus on what the knowledge the kids actually need. Their teachers have noted that their confidence has increased. They see it in the classroom when a question comes up and they’ll say ‘I know how to do that! I did it with my Third Space Learning tutor.”

After sitting a diagnostic assessment, each student receives the invaluable advantage of personalised attention from qualified tutors who target their specific misconceptions and knowledge gaps from their very first tutoring session. Tutors have the flexibility to adapt sessions to suit the learning style of pupils.
All Third Space Learning Maths GCSE tutors are professional tutors with background and DBS checks. They are trained in teaching and learning methodologies, the syllabus of different major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR – Oxford Cambridge & RSA) and in rapport-building and engagement with teenagers.
Our lessons and tutor training programmes are designed by PGCE-qualified teachers with teaching experience in UK schools, so you can be sure that the teaching style and materials align with main classroom teaching.

Is it worth getting a maths tutor?
Yes, getting the right tutor can be highly beneficial, especially if it’s one to one. A one to one tutor provides personalised attention, targeting the maths lesson specifically at a student’s needs, gaps and misconceptions. Third Space Learning’s online maths tuition has been proven to accelerate progress and double attainment over a period of 14 weeks.
How can students improve their GCSE maths Grade?
Students can improve their GCSE maths grade by working through lots and lots of practice GCSE maths questions, ideally supported by an online or face to face in person maths tutor (although the latter are much more expensive).
How much does Third Space Learning cost?
In the past, private tutors were too expensive for many individuals and schools – but now, funding is available for schools to help all pupils reach their full potential through tuition. Third Space Learning’s online maths tuition is, on average, 50% more affordable compared to one-to-one interventions conducted by school staff and 56% cheaper than the average cost of one-to-one tutoring from other external providers. We’re proud to be the most affordable DfE-approved one to one tutoring provider.
Do you provide other subjects or grade levels for one-to-one tuition?
Third Space Learning’s online maths tutors are subject knowledge experts in maths for the GCSE maths exam. At the moment we are unable to provide A-level maths, further maths or English language or literature GCSE level tuition. However, as well as our secondary school tutors we do have primary school maths tutors providing primary school tuition and support for the KS2 SATs.
