Here at Third Space Learning, our community of specialist maths tutors has been supporting primary school pupils across the country with online maths tuition since 2012. We’re passionate about maths tutoring and our mission is to make sure as many pupils as possible have access to high-quality online lessons from experienced tutors.
Teachers and parents want what’s best for their pupils and children. When it comes to maths, we believe that means choosing a maths programme that’s delivered by maths specialists. All of our experienced tutors have undergone specific training in delivering one-to-one maths tutoring to Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils.

Our online lessons give pupils the opportunity to talk through maths questions and build key numeracy skills with their own personal mathematics teacher.

Maths interventions for your pupils in school
- Let us know which and how many pupils you’d like to receive the online lessons. Pricing is calculated according to the number of pupils you’d like to support and full access to our library of maths resources to use across the school is available at no additional cost.
- Each pupil will sit an initial diagnostic assessment to help understand their individual maths gaps and personalise their learning programme. It will also help their personal tutor adapt the pitch and pace of each online lesson to suit the particular maths student they’re teaching.
- At the same time each week at a time chosen by you, your pupils will receive a personalised online maths lesson with their own personal maths teacher. We make sure pupils work with the same qualified maths tutor each week, helping to build engagement, rapport and confidence.
- You’re kept up to date with how your chosen pupils are progressing through the maths programme with weekly and termly progress reports. Many teachers use these reports to help inform whole class planning and teaching.
- As well as the online tutoring, you’ll have access to Third Space Maths Hub, our library of flexible and easy-to-use maths resources to help raise maths attainment across your whole school.
Maths tuition for your kids at home
- Pick your preferred day, time, frequency and length for your child’s online lessons. Lessons from our private maths tutors are available from 9:00am to 8:00pm Monday – Friday and from 9:00am to 6:00pm on weekends.
- Before their first lesson, they’ll take a short online test to help us understand their maths level and personalise their maths programme.
- We’ll match them up with their own personal private tutor and their adventure will begin. All of our tutors are fully background checked (DBS-equivalent) and have received rigorous training in delivering online one-to-one maths tuition.
- In between lessons, children have access to lots of additional maths worksheets and activities to keep them engaged. From decimals to times tables to fractions, you name it, we’ve got it!
- You can see how your child is progressing in the Parents Portal. From here you can also view, cancel or reschedule your upcoming lessons.

How much does maths tuition cost
Maths tuition with Third Space Learning costs from £9.99 for each online maths lesson. This compares with £25 to £50 that is usually charged by maths tutors teaching online or face to face.
Are your maths tutors qualified teachers?
All of our specialist maths tutors take part in our Global Tutor Training Programme. This provides specific training to deliver effective one-to-one maths tuition according the English National Curriculum.
What ages do you support?
At the moment, lessons are available for primary school pupils and for pupils in Year 7 with outstanding gaps from Key Stage 2. Our GCSE maths programme will be available from January and we hope to offer support for A-level maths in the near future.
Do you offer exam revision programmes?
We currently offer a specific Key Stage 2 SATs revision programme for both schools and parents and are launching a brand new GCSE revision programme in January. For GCSE and IGCSE students, our maths programme will be suitable for all exam boards; AQA, Edexcel and OCR. We do not offer further maths or university-level maths tuition.
Third Space Learning encourages children to talk about their maths. It enables them to think aloud with the tutor and this then transfers to their independent work. It gives children much more confidence in their own maths ability!
The children love Third Space and it really supports what they do in class, filling in their gaps in learning and building their confidence. The fact that children have to speak with their tutor and explain their reasoning, develops confidence and their use of mathematical vocabulary.
